But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the [j]general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. (Heb.12:22-24) But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions (Obad. 1:17 KJV) Zion is used in the scriptures to refer to Mount Zion or the city of Jerusalem both of which spiritually denote a place where God dwells on the earth. The scripture says there will be deliverance and holiness in the holy mountain where God lives on the earth. What is the significance of Mount Zion for you today as a believer? The scripture says upon mount Zion, that is, amidst the people of God, there will be deliverance and holiness! This is a picture of your life as a believer in Christ. You have come to Mount Zion, and you are the dwelling place of God. He has decreed that deliverance and holiness should be in His dwelling place. That means everything that holds you in bondage is doing so illegally and is transgressing God’s commandment by oppressing you.
